For example, Bokka-sha’s “Corporate philosophy Creation” service expresses one’s vision through the art of calligraphy, helping business leaders clarify their core philosophy.
By visualizing and embodying the direction that executives aspire to, we aim to communicate it to employees with greater impact—enhancing awareness and contributing to both personal growth and the development of the company.
About Bokka-sha
Bokka-sha, located in Kawaguchi City, Saitama Prefecture, is a calligraphy school and atelier founded by master calligrapher Midori Ishikawa. Our philosophy is rooted in the belief that calligraphy is more than a simple hobby; it's a valuable art form that enhances personal expression and appreciation for the Japanese language. In an age of digital communication, the beauty of handwritten characters is a rare and unique skill. Bokka-sha is dedicated to helping students of all ages master this art and find new avenues for creativity and professional development.
What is Shodō
Japanese calligraphy, or Shodō (書道), is a traditional art form that expresses both beauty and spirit through the written word. Rooted in Chinese calligraphy and developed uniquely over centuries in Japan, Shodō is more than just writing—it is a discipline that unites mind, body, and brush.
Practitioners of Shodō use brush and ink to create characters that reflect not only technical skill but also the writer’s inner state of mind. Every stroke embodies rhythm, balance, and harmony, revealing the artist’s personality and emotion.
In Japan, calligraphy is deeply connected to Zen philosophy and aesthetics, valuing simplicity, mindfulness, and the beauty of imperfection. Today, Shodō continues to evolve as both a spiritual practice and a contemporary art form, bridging tradition and modern expression.

School
Bokka-sha Calligraphy School has been established for 20 years. We operate two locations in Kawaguchi City, Saitama Prefecture, where around 80 students currently study calligraphy with us every week.
If you visit Bokka-sha, you’ll be greeted by the bright voices and earnest concentration of our students. We also provide instruction for junior high, high school, and university students, as well as adults of all levels.
Just as Suikei Ishikawa’s own calligraphy journey has been, our school is a place where students can learn with excitement and joy — where calligraphy naturally becomes a special skill and a part of who they are.
We are committed to supporting our students throughout their lives.
For those who wish to build a career and earn an income through calligraphy in the future, we offer guidance for independence. At Bokka-sha, students can gain experience as staff or instructors, and we provide advice on concrete steps and the right environment to become a professional.
